2010 Outreach Activities

We are planning outreach during the following months for the following states (see below). We need hosts and volunteers! If you want to help and get involved, please email hsky@cadefoundation.org. 1) June 26, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA (Location: Headquarters for  Adoptions From The Heart 30-31 Hampstead Circle, Wynnewood, PA 19096, (610) 432-2384)  from 10 AM until 1 PM. Panelists include Maxine Chalker (Exec. Director, Adoptions from the Heart), Dr. Jacqueline Gutmann (Reproductive Medical Associates of PA) and Rachel Groen Yagur (Proud mom who will share her story of OVERCOMING infertility).

2) July 8, 2010 in Midland, MI (Location: Messiah Church, 1550 South Poseyville Road, Midland, MI 48640, phone 989.835.7143 ) from 7pm until 9pm.

    • April 24, 2010 in Newport News, VA (Location: Huntington Middle School in Newport News at  3401 Orcutt Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607) table hosted by the Newport News chapter of the Sisters of the Eastern Star; Health Empowerment Fair of the Newport News graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.) from 11AM until 3PM.
    • Making all the right moves: A Critical Discussion on Men's Health."  Heather Sky McField, Outreach Coordinator for the Cade Foundation will be a special presenter and will discuss male infertility, family building options such as adoption and fertility treatment and financing family building between 1:30 and 2:00 PM).  April 24, 2010 in New York, NY (Location: Columbia University- The Armand Hammer Health Sciences Center, 701 West 168th Street ; A, C or 1 train to 168th Street) from 10 AM until 3 PM.  This event is brought to you by the Northern Manhattan chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
    • We held a very successful outreach activity in Spanish on Saturday April 10th from 11am – 1pm Crystal Restaurant and Lounge, 1401 University Blvd, Hyattsville, MD 20912.  This activity will be conducted En Espanol (in Spanish).  Special guest Patricia de Lima (el Zol, 99.1) came by to sign autographs, meet participants and express her support and the support of El Zol for the Cade Foundation. Special thanks to Dr Kipersztok (Shady Grove Fertility), Heidi Hayes and Ruben Iliescas (volunteers who discussed their battle with and victory over infertility).   
    • We held a successful outreach activity in Richmond, VA on March 20, 2010 from 2pm until 4pm Richmond VA, co sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity at The Way of the Lord Church Ministries, 1700 Blair St. Richmond, VA 23227.  Special invited guests/ panelists included Ms nadine Marsh Carter (Executive Director, Children's Home Society of VA) and Dr Rachana Garde (Fertility doctor, Shady Grove Fertility)
    • We held an outreach activity at Pikesville branch of the Baltimore County Public Library. Dr Ricardo Yazigi (Shady Grove Fertility), Ms Stephanie Pettaway (Adoptuskids) and Dr Joah Wharton (OneChurchOneChild) were featured presenters.  Special thanks to the Baltimore County chapter of Jack and Jill for hosting the event.     • A virtual activity was held Friday February 19, 2010, 12PM - 2PM and gave participants chance to learn about different types of fertility treatment, adoption and ways to finance adoption and fertility treatment.  Special guests included Dr Paulette Holloway from Bethany Christian Services (an adoption agency) and Dr Camille Hammond from the Cade Foundation.     • Outreach activity on Thursday January 21 in Baltimore, MD at Cherry Hill Elementary School.
    • Saturday January 2, 2010 - 2009 Family Building Banquet- Chevy Chase, MD at Maggiano's Little Italy. At this spedial celebration, we awarded 6 additional families Family Building Grants (see "Family Building Grant" page for more information. To see photos of the event, click here.

    2008 and 2009 Fundraising and Outreach Events:

    • Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009: 2009 Cade Foundation Race for the Family was a HUGE Success! On behalf of the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation (TQCF), I am writing to thank you for your generous support of the 2009 Cade Foundation Race for the Family!       This year we had 450 participants and over 120 volunteers. We raised $65,000 in sponsorships, individual and group fundraising and registrations. We also received approximately $13,000 in “in kind” donations. Special thanks to Shady Grove Fertility for hosting this 4th annual event! We had many wonderful special guests and honorary race chairpersons come out to support everyone on race day including radio personality John Martin from Mix 103.7 FM, the Wizard Girls (Washington Wizards NBA cheerleaders) and Tasha Newsome (Lady Ravens).

      In addition to thanking you for your tremendous support, I’m asking that you mark your calendar for the 5th annual Cade Foundation Race for the Family, which will be hosted again by Shady Grove Fertility on September 26, 2010 at 15001 Shady Grove Rd, Rockville, MD. Shady Grove Fertility, our gracious host, held a raffle for TQCF for a free IVF cycle for which over 1200 tickets were sold to people from around the country. Thank you everyone who participated in the "Free IVF" raffle. The winning ticket was drawn at the Cade Foundation Race for the Family and the winner was announced at that time. The winning ticket holder, from the Baltimore metropolitan area, was contacted by phone and plans to use the cycle.

       
    • Sunday, Oct. 3, 2009: 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm; Poodles Supporting Parents, sponsored by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Gettysburg College, North Washington St. Gettysburg, PA. 17325. The successful race took place at 240 West Lincoln Ave, The College Union Building (across the street from the dining center). Approximately 50 Gettysburg student runners and walkers came out to support the event and the Sigma Gamma Rho's raised over $650 to support the Cade Foundation!

       
    • Saturday January 2, 2010 from 11 AM until 2 PM- Family Building Banquet. Maggiano's Little Italy, 5333 Wisconsin Ave Nw. Washington, DC. Registration: $40 per person. Congratulations to our Family Building Champions for 2009 - First Baptist Church of Glen Arden, Bethany Christian Services Adoption Agencies and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. Congratulations are also offered to our Volunteer of the Year, Mrs. Kathy Bugge from Silver Spring, MD. We will recognize our 2009 Family Building grant recipients at this celebration.     • TQCF awarded six additional grants to infertile families throughout the country. All funds aided in costs associated with infertility medical treatment and domestic adoption (up to $10,000 per family)

       
    • TQCF hosted two "Race for the Family" walk-a-thons and art festivals: Columbia, Md. in July of 2008 and Richmond, Va. in September of 2008. The National Football League's Baltimore Ravens' Harry Swayne and Radio-One Richmond's own, "Miss Community Clovia" hosted the events.

       
    • TQCF reached 825 families through various community outreach activities. Each event increased awareness of infertility issues and provided family building information and solutions.

       
    • TQCF hosted its second Annual Family Building Luncheon on Saturday Dec. 6, 2008. The foundation recognized three Family Building Champions (people/organizations that support infertile families) and awarded its 2008 Family Building Grant to six worthy couples.

      • 2008 Family Building Champions: Fertility Today Magazine. The Fertile Hope Organization, and The Children's Home Society of Virginia.

         
      • 2008 Family Building Grant Recipients: Jessica and Rodney Gill of Richmond, Va.; Richard and Kelly Deeter of Hegins, Penn.; Amanda and Chad Kendzierski of Abingdon, Md.; Mary and Benjamin Lambert IV of Richmond, Va.; Tiffany and Michael Spede of Hopewell, Va.; and Nick and Stacie Vetor of Noblesville, Ind.

    • TQCF was featured on NBC 12 and CBS 6 in Richmond, Virginia; IndyChannel WTVR ABC 6 in Indianapolis, Ind.; The Republican Herald and The Citizen Standard in Pennsylvania. One of our 2007 Family Building Grant Recipients was also featured on NBC's "Today Show."

       
    • TQCF raised over $55,000 to support the Family Building Grant and outreach activities.

       
    • TQCF officially partnered with Shady Grove Infertility Center; America's largest private practice fertility center, based in Rockville, MD.
       

    2009 News and Events Recap

    • TQCF sponsored 11 outreach activities promoting awareness about infertility, adoption and fertility treatment in Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee! We enjoyed the support of local fertility clinics and adoption agencies – who sent fertility doctors and adoption specialists to each activity. In 2010- we plan to host activities in Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee and also, new activities in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Washington DC, California and Texas!

       
    • TQCF awarded Family Building Grants to an additional 6 families- bringing the number of families who have received Family Building Grants up to 15.

       
    • TQCF designated charity recipient of a portion of proceeds from Infertile Eclass.com classes.

       
    • TQCF supporters hosted 5 Fertili-Tea™ and Fertili-Vines™, small scale home based outreach and fundraising parties, raising almost $1000 on average per party
