The Growing Gift of Family
Testimonial by Kelley Hodges>
On November 28, 2007, John and I received the news we had been waiting for and the call that would forever change our lives. A mere thirteen hours before we received that call, our son had been born. We were shocked, breathless and overjoyed. The blessing we received in that one phone call has only grown over the past two years into a 24 hours/7 day a week love affair with our son, Grant. As his second birthday fast approaches, November 27, 2009, we cannot recount and recall all the wonderful ways that Grant has touch our lives and made us better persons as individuals, as a married couple and most importantly as parents. Grant is now running more free and faster every day. Each step he takes is more secure, each word he utters is clearer and each sentence he states gives a greater insight into how strong willed he is. He loves to share, console anyone who is crying and give hugs and kisses. Like a typical two year old, he has his meltdowns and bedtime is sometimes a struggle… but the small battles are far outweighed by the sheer joy he gives to us each time he runs to us with open arms yelling “Mommy or Daddy” as we pick him up from daycare.

One Gift from the Cade Foundation Brought Three Gifts to the Vetor Family
Testimonial by Stacie Vetor
We had struggled with fertility issues for several years but after an ectopic miscarriage in January 2008, we were told that we would have to pursue IVF in order to conceive. We were overwhelmed and saddened by this news. One night, desperate to find some kind of assistance for fertility treatment, I came across a link to The Cade Foundation. I could not believe what I was reading about their Family Building Grant. I truly felt that God led me to their website. On November 16, 2008 Dr. Camille Hammond called my husband and informed him that we were 1 of 6 families selected for the Family Building Grant and in early 2009, we pursued our first attempt of IVF. On March 10th we received the news we had been hoping for…I was pregnant and my expected due date was November 16, 2009 (exactly 1 year to the day of our phone call about the grant)! Thanks to the Cade Foundation, the families who have dedicated their time to raising money for the Family Building Grant, and our Lord, we welcomed three precious miracles into our lives on August 23, 2009.

Benjamin and Mary Lambert of Richmond, Va. are now the parents of a new baby boy, Benjamin Lambert V. Baby Benjamin was born on Sunday March 14, 2010, following the couple’s ongoing battle with infertility. They are the second family from Richmond, Va. to receive the grant, pursue In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), and have a child.
“I can’t believe he is here,” Lambert said. “It has been such a long road, but seeing him and holding him – it was worth the fight. It is because of the Cade Foundation that he is here. We are so thankful, and ready to raise our little man.”
Lambert, 37, and her husband, 42, knew that it may be difficult to conceive after her reproductive organs were damaged through an ectopic pregnancy. The couple began to explore their family-building options after realizing their struggle with infertility when they attempted conception of their first child. They discovered the monetary resources of the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation Inc. (TQCF) through their involvement in a national, African-American volunteer service organization.
“The cost is such a deterrent for many African Americans,” Mr. Lambert explained. “We encourage everyone to do research about the resources and funding that is available. Additionally, I think doctors need to be aware of the resources that are out there and be able to offer this information to their patients.”
