2008 5k Race for the Family and
Sidewalk Arts Festival Activities

What do these activities support? We are the only national non profit organization that provides grants to help needy families with the cost of adoption and fertility treatment. The money we raise through the Races for the Family and Sidewalk Arts Festivals support our Family Building Grant. For more information about the grant or to apply, click here.
What is the Race for the Family? This is a 5k race, a 5k walkathon and a 1 mile Family Fun Walk sponsored by the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation (TQCF). All proceeds from this event benefit the TQCF's Family Building Grant- grants that provide financial support to infertile families to help with the costs of adoption and fertility treatment.
What is the Sidewalk Arts Festival? This is an activity where participants (who can be individuals or groups) will receive a box of chalk and an assigned sidewalk spot. They will have from 9 AM to 11 AM to create sidewalk art that captures our themes "Celebrating th ART of Building Happy Families" and "OVERCOMING infertility." This event is open to all ages and all backgrounds- from professional artists to kids in school who want to come out to have a great time and support an important cause on the 4th of July weekend.
Who should attend the Race for the Family? Everyone from runners, walkers, couch potatoes, single folks who may want a family some day, married folks who want children, people with kids, people without kids and people who want to support a great cause.
Who should attend the Sidewalk Arts Festival? Everyone listed above PLUS budding artists and folks who like getting involved with community activities that support families- particularly families struggling with infertility.
Where will the Maryland Race and Sidewalk Arts Festival Take Place? Centennial Park in Ellicott City Maryland- about 30 minutes between Washington DC and Baltimore Maryland- near I-95 just off Route 108. The address is 10000 State Rt 108, (Clarksville Pike if mapquesting), Ellicott City, MD 21042
When? Registration for the Sidewalk Arts Festival begins at 9 AM. Once you sign in, you will assigned a sidewalk spot and given a box of chalk to create sidewalk art with. The contest will run for 2 hours. At 11 AM- judges will review all of the art and choose winners from aa variety of categories. The theme for this years' festival is "Celebrating the ART of Building Happy Families." The theme for the TQCF is "OVERCOMING infertility. Art should demonstrate our themes.
When? Registration for the Race for the Family begins at 9 AM and the 5k Race, th 5k Walk and the 1 mile Family Fun Walk begin at 10AM. Strollers are encouraged so families with young children should definitely plan to attend. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place male and female runners. We will also have a LOT of door prizes for others, as well as games and contests for all members of the family and community.
How can you register? Click Here to register online. Early Bird registration is $22 (through May 15th). Pre registration (online) is $24. On site registration is $25. How else can you support the activity? If you can't attend but still want to get involved, start an online fundraising page (www.firstgiving.com/cadefoundation). You can also register to "sleep in"and if you donate at least $50, we will send your t shirt to you. Send it out to all of your friends and family to raise money for the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation.
