Savannah Grant

Savannah Grant – Exclusively for Shady Grove Fertility Patients

In 2010, the Cade Foundation established the Savannah Grant, a family building grant which provides support specifically to Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) patients pursuing parenthood through the use of IVF. This grant is in honor of Savannah Caroline Pereira, a SGF baby who tragically died in March 2010.  For applicants interested in Savannah Grant, there is no need to fill out any additional paperwork. All Shady Grove Fertility applicants that require IVF treatments (including patients who plan to use egg donors or surrogates) are automatically entered into the pool for both general Cade Foundation Family Building Grants as well as this restricted Family Building Grant   The Savannah Grant will provide up to $10,000 for fertility treatment at Shady Grove Fertility.

To apply for these grants, please submit an application for the Cade Foundation Family Building Grant. Shady Grove Fertility patients are automatically considered for a traditional Family Building Grant as well as for the Savannah Grant.

In total the Savannah Fund has raised more than $126,000 to celebrate Savannah’s memory and to support families struggling with infertility. To date the Savannah Grant has supported 8 families and there are now 5 Savannah Grant babies! Please visit the the Savannah Memorial Fund to give support.

Savannah's Night Out, or SNO, is named for our first daughter, Savannah Caroline Pereira, who was born on April 30, 2009 and died tragically in an accident on March 9, 2010. Savannah loved her music and people, attending music classes at just 8 months of age and shaking her mariaches and dancing at every opportunity. She also loved her food and joined us for Valentine's Day dinner at Vidalia Restaurant in DC with Owner Jeff Buben and Chef Michael Nevarez. We were blessed with Savannah and all the love and joy she brought us and others because we could afford the medical treatments required to overcome our infertility issue. Others are not so fortunate.

We decided after her death to honor and celebrate her life and love by starting Savannah's Fund to give $10,000 annual Savannah Grants to others who cannot afford the medical treatments without our help. Savannah never got to celebrate her first birthday or go out to a live music show with us, so we decided to start Savannah's Night Out as her posthumous birthday night out and fundraising celebration.

SNO is a great opportunity to enjoy a tax-deductible gourmet meal, several hours of live music, and meet some great people from all walks of life while helping bring children into the world of deserving couples who otherwise could not afford the medical treatments they require to have children. To date, Savannah Grant recipients have had 6 children thanks in part to funds raised at past SNO events!  Of all the things you can spend one evening doing this May, this one is up there in terms of what life is about. Helping others, good times, good food, good music, good people.
