Race for the Family is our 5k walk/run or 10/20 mile bike ride to support families OVERCOMING infertility! The journey to parenthood is a marathon for many and includes obstacles and challenges. We KNOW that it is easier when you have the support of community. The Race for the Family is a chance for those on the journey to connect with others who are on the pathway.  It's a chance to connect with support (medical, adoption, pharmaceutical, mental health, nutrition, acupuncture and so much more) to help with the journey!  It's a chance for those who are connected to the community (because they OVERCAME infertility themselves or because they have a friend or family member who has struggled) to gather and to celebrate the strength and courage it takes to BEAT infertility.

Support: Join us! This is only possible because of the support of folks like YOU!  Here are a few ways you can help us support families in connection with the Race for the Family:

1) Sign Up- Register for the Race for the Family as a walker or runner or bicyclist in person or virtually on your own.

2) Donate and or fundraise RIGHT HERE to support our grants. You can create your own fundraiser (with your photo) and share with your friends and family to share about the event and encourage them to join you as we work together to support families & OVERCOME infertility! For every $25 raised, you'll get an extra raffle ticket for the prize of $10k in treatment at Shady Grove Fertility. 

History: The event first took place in 2007 and we've been honored to host 25 of these events throughout the US to date.  The funds raised support Cade Foundation Family Building Grants which help with costs of adoption or fertility treatment. We have raised over $500,000 throughout the years through these events for grants for families with infertility.

The Cade Foundation's Maryland Race for the Family, hosted by Shady Grove Fertility, is our fun run/walk that celebrates the strength and courage it takes to OVERCOME infertility. All proceeds from the event fund Family Building Grants that help others afford the costs associated with fertility treatment or adoption.

What is it? The Race for the Family is a few things.... an amazing community gathering celebrating ALL THINGS connected to family building and more! We will be at the Baltimore Washington International Airport Hiker Biker trail.

When is it? 9/20/25 from 8am-11am (in person) Or... (virtual) Any time/ any place you choose between 6/1 and 6/15.

Also..

- A 1 mile fun walk/run along the paved route

- A 5k fun walk/run along the paved route

-A 12 mile bike along the paved route

- A children's learning and play area (Savannah's Playground) and a "toddler trot" where kiddos 2-6 years old can race.

Finish Line: Our finish line, FertiliFest, is a finish line party for all event registrants including a DJ and dance party, games, snacks and SUPPORT from groups and organizations that support families overcoming infertility. From fertility care (fertility treatment, legal, donor eggs and surrogacy and more+++) to adoption to pop up resources for thriving (mental health, coaching, massage and so much more), this is a great space for families to learn and grow.

We celebrate ALL pathways to parenthood and want all families to feel welcomed and supported. Join us as we celebrate and spread the message that infertility can be OVERCOME!

How do we ATTEND? We will have in person and virtual options. In person registrants will receive all of the benefits above. Virtual attendees will receive their shirts by mail, their event bags virtually and be registered for the $10,000 raffle for treatment at Shady Grove Fertility.

How do we VOLUNTEER? Visit us HERE to sign up to volunteer as a course marshal, for check in or for the FertiliFest finish line area.

Raffle The raffle for $10,000 in fertility treatment from Shady Grove Fertility and will take place at the event. Each adult registration is eligible for 1 raffle ticket.
